FAQs About Child Sponsorship

FAQs About Child Sponsorship

With the growth and expansion of our child sponsorship program, we’ve had many frequently asked questions about connecting with your child. Below you can read our most asked questions and responses directly from our staff.

1)    Why is BU changing the way gifts are sent?

During our recent visit we were able to talk with multiple project leaders and child officers about their experience with the sponsorship program and where we could improve to better serve our children. As a result of my conversations with our staff we decided to make the transition to strictly monetary donations through our website as well as letters and flat gifts that can fit in a manila envelope.

Moving to monetary donations allows the staff to discern the greatest need for the child, connect with them by taking them to the market, and boost the local economy by purchasing from local vendors and shops. Our staff expressed their concern for child safety as multiple and large gifts can also target them in the community. Our children's safety is of upmost importance to all of us.

2)    How can I give to my sponsor child now?

You can visit our website at www.beyonduganda.org and gift via the donate button. When you donate you can note your child’s name and what you would like to provide (or just give to their current needs) in the memo line. The suggested maximum gift size is $25.

3)    What is appropriate to send in a manila envelope?

We encourage you to take this opportunity to be creative and connect with your child. You can send letters, pictures, and even coloring pages!

4)    How will I ensure my sponsor child is getting what they need?

Our trained staff and child officers are committed to making regular home visits where they assess the needs of the child and their welfare.

5)    How can I encourage my child in their studies?

Your child is always in need of encouragement! Continue to encourage your child through prayer and letters. Speak life into their future and encourage them to imagine all of the possibilities when finishing their education!

We are so grateful to each of you who choose that partner with us in child sponsorship and invest in the future of each child’s life! It is our hope that you will work with us through this growth period to better serve our children, ensure their safety, and connect with them through letter writing, photos, and unique flat gifts. Please email us with any questions you may have regarding our changes!
