Bugiri Well Update
The funds raised by Little Sprouts homeschooling co-op were used to revitalized a dry well in the Bugiri district of Uganda. This was a dead well that is in front of our business office and future children's home so it was important to re-dig. The soil there is incredibly hard volcanic rock so the initial shallow well was dug as far as they could go manually but during the dry season was drying up. The water bottle campaign money raised helped hire machines that revitalized wells like this one. The well took approximately four months during the rainy season to re-dig and install. The well was recently finished and presented to the community. This well not only serves the community, but rests on the Beyond Uganda office property as well as the future site of the re-envisioned children's home, Mariam's house. So while the well directly impacts our staff, it'll will also be a clean water source and point of impact in the village and surrounding community.
